PRE

PRE is an appearance grade with sound tight knots, yielding 83.33% Structurally Sound Cuttings.

PRE is a small tight knot appearance grade – one of the featured products Western Red Alder is known for. It is often used for moldings, case good construction, panels, doors, cabinets, furniture, and much more.

Notes:

PRE admits all boards two board feet and over surface measure, yielding no less than 83.3% sound cuttings. The reverse side will be FRA grade or better.

Wane is limited to 25% of the width and 50% of the length. Wane may be divided, showing on both board edges.

Side bend limited to 1″ (25mm).

Face knot size is limited to 0.5″ (13mm) unsound and 1″ (25mm) sound in 4″ to 5.5″ (102mm to 140mm) widths. In boards exceeding 5.5″ (140mm) wide, knot size is limited to 1″ (25mm) unsound and 2″ (51mm) sound.
