RUS

RUS is a 83.3% structural sound cuttings grade.

RUS grade Alder designed to provide a knotty, natural appearance. It can be used in panels, cabinets, moldings, and much more. The knot size and quality are limited to ensure maximized value in the remanufacturing process. Graded from the best face, this product may have a high line #3 shop back, if the defect does not structurally affect the use in re-manufacturing. 6/4 and 8/4 RUS includes any PRE that develops. These sizes are cut to minimize heart centers, pith, and maximize stability

Notes:

RUS will have a surface measure yielding no less than 83.3% sound cuttings. The reverse side will grade to high line #3 Shop or better.

Cuttings will admit sound knots, bird pecks, stain, streaks, star checks, split knots, season checks, rustic appearance, pin, shot and spot worm holes. Occasional unsound knots that are not holes are not considered a defect on an otherwise exceptionally good board.

Pith is allowed up to one half the length of the board.

Wane is limited to 1″ (25mm) of the width and 24″ (610mm) in length on a 10′ (3.04m) board, and 1″ (25mm) of the width and 12″ (305mm) of the length on an 96″ (2.43m) board and half of the thickness.

Heavy shake are not allowed.

Stain is unlimited on the back with light stain allowed on the face. Side bend is limited to 1″ (25mm).
