Planer / Rip Line Countdown
May 28, 2025

Return

Last month was an exciting month for the machinists and electricians at Cascade Hardwood. After excavating and pouring a huge concrete slab, installation has been progressing on the state-of-the-art planing and rip line at our main facility. While the first few months included a ton of prep work, work has been pressing forward, and there is no longer any mistaking what is going in.

Last week, the robot arrived. Configured to feed either the planer infeed or just the gang saw, using a robot to feed the new line is a big step forward for us. The robotic infeed will help us keep the machine busy for 10 hours every day. It will also allow us to begin to explore uses around the mill to handle repetitive, often heavy jobs with ease. We view robotics in the mill as the next step in keeping Cascade a safe and efficient workplace.

Here is a list of capabilities in our new State-of-the-Art Mill, Installed June 2025

We feel this new machine center will be fully utilized from day 1. If you have rip inquiries or regular orders you have had done by a local service provider, give us a shot. Getting Alder ripped at the mill will create freight savings and efficiencies when it comes directly off our truck and put on an outbound shipment.
