CASCADE IS ALDER

We often get asked, “How Much Alder Does Cascade Make?”. Some are looking for information requested by managers regarding the security of their supply chain. Others are just curious. Some are likely to compare us to our main competitor, as the Alder business is unique, with two major players. The key for us is that Alder is really what we do; it is nearly all we do and remains our primary focus in the marketplace.

We are scheduled this year to make just over 74 million board feet of lumber at Chehalis and Port Angeles combined.  Of this, over 68 million board feet will be Alder.

As you can see, the Alder game is a volume game. This is why we have focused on making Alder sheet goods more affordable and available with our alliance partner, Murphy Plywood. While Murphy Plywood is our preferred partner, we also recognize that they sell to a limited number of distributors in each market. Therefore, we are also supplying several other manufacturers of lumber specifically targeted for sheet goods so that Alder plywood is widely available. The overall goal is to do everything possible to make Alder the “GO-TO”, Made in USA species used in high-volume cabinetry and millwork applications.   No other species from the USA gives manufacturers the flexibility in finishes that closed-grain Alder does.

Because of our nearly singular focus on Alder, we are confident in saying “Cascade is Alder.”
